Ethics & Compliance Investigator
[Contract Length] 6 months
[Location] Will mostly be in Hicksville, NY (Hybrid, 1-2 days in office)
[Work Setup] Hybrid; frequent travel required across Long Island and NJ. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation needed.
[Pay] $28/hr w2, no benefits

Job Overview
The Ethics & Compliance Investigator plays a critical role in maintaining organizational integrity by managing time-sensitive, complex investigations. Reporting to senior management, this position involves examining allegations of fraud, policy violations, and misconduct (including harassment and discrimination). You will independently handle all aspects of investigations, provide detailed reports, and follow up on corrective actions while also supporting broader compliance initiatives such as training and corporate communications.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigations by interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and drafting concise reports.
• Respond to complaints and reported concerns from internal and external parties.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, unions, and business unit leaders for data collection and analysis.
• Assist management in designing preventive controls, conducting training sessions, and performing security surveys.
• Represent the organization during civil/criminal trials, mediations, and arbitration hearings.
• Prepare and present findings and recommendations to leadership for preventive measures.
• Maintain case data storage within the established framework and ensure confidentiality.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree OR 10+ years of internal corporate investigation experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years conducting corporate or similar investigations.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Expertise in managing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for business purposes.
  • Ability to evaluate compliance with company policies, laws, and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in EEO, anti-harassment laws, controllership/fraud investigations, or similar ethical concerns.
• Law degree.
